Hope Town, Elbow Cay

We had a lovely farewell evening with Sally and John aboard Liliana last night and said goodbye to Eastern Harbour and the turtles this morning.  It was a short hop (5 miles) over to Hope Town on Elbow Cay.  We had to leave Man O War and arrive in Hope Town at high tide (impossible to do both), so we split the difference and left 30 minutes before high tide in Man O War and arrived 30 minutes after high tide in Hope Town.  Made it unscathed :)

We rented a slip for two nights since we'd been on a mooring or at anchor for 17 days......time to do a little laundry, stock up on groceries, and take long showers at the marina/resort :)  For those who don't know, while the weather is nice, we shower off the stern of the boat in the evening.  We haven't yet showered down below, in the head!

We dinghied across the harbor and had lunch at The Reef Bar and Grill at Hope Town Harbour Lodge.......beautiful view and tasty tuna!  After lunch, we walked around town, admired the pretty houses, bought some groceries, and headed back to Virginia Dare.  Here's a brief look at the town:
Farewell to Man O War, it was wonderful to be there

An hour later, we arrived in Hope Town

Tricky and shallow entrance to the harbor......line up the range markers (red arrows) and then turn to starboard

We'll have to tour the lighthouse tomorrow.  This is the view from our slip.

Had lunch on this patio at The Reef Bar and Grill

Pretty lamp posts

We hear Cap'n Jack's is the place for breakfast

Seems like we're a million miles from Michigan, but what do we see? A Sparty boat!

Vernon himself was stocking the shelves

This house is called La Romantica and it's for rent :)

Trying Cuban rum, not cigars
