My parents flew in from Portland for their first visit to see Virginia Dare. Unfortunately, Hurricane Joaquin messed with our plans for the week, but we still had a nice visit. Remember, flexibility is the name of the game when you live on a boat!

Super Moon rising.....too cloudy to see eclipse later in the evening. |

Meghan and Jason also visited for the first time since we moved aboard :) |

Very fun catching up with our North Road neighbors, Cindy and Bob! |

Happy hour fun aboard Acadia with the Sandy and Bud |

Red marker indicates our location on Harness Creek where we will stay anchored until the storm passes |

View to port (yes, it's really this dark and gloomy) |

The furnace is on and David made his famous cookies (in batches of four!) to keep things toasty warm. |

Our first Virginia Dare photo album arrived |

Lots of one-pot meals (breakfast frittata or open-faced omelet) |

Dinner one evening at The Boatyard. The lady in the background didn't want to have her photo taken, so I blurred her out. |

Lots of seafood at The Boatyard |
On Friday morning, David and I woke up at 6:15, drank a pot of coffee, pulled on our foul-weather gear, dinghied to shore, bicycled two miles in the rain to the car, and drove across the Chesapeake Bay Bridge to attend a forecasting seminar by weather guru, Chris Parker, only to find out it had been cancelled :( Big bummer! We made the best of it.......had breakfast with a great friend, moved the car down to Herrington Harbour North (THANK YOU, Bob!), and hunkered down back on Virginia Dare.

It was a dark and stormy day, but Mom and Dad's plane took off and transported them safely back to Portland. |

Furnace is on, foul-weather gear is drying |
We are streaming the MSU football game -- GO GREEN! This is pretty much the only time I miss having a television, football season. Pot of chili is on tap for this evening.
We hope all of our friends and family affected by hurricane, wind, and rain are dry and safe!
