Man O War walkabout

We left Great Guana on Sunday afternoon to arrive at Man O War Cay at exactly high tide (15:07).  We motored straight into the wind for about an hour in the Sea of Abaco, made it through the SHALLOW, NARROW channel unscathed, and picked up our first mooring aboard Virginia Dare.   The shallowest point David saw on the depth finder was 7'9" -- giving us a spare 1'4" under our keel.

Eastern Harbor is very quiet.  When I was at the bow with a hook to grab a mooring, I saw two huge rays glide by and a turtle swimming just below me!  The turtle, from that angle (straight down), was just beautiful.  Of course, my camera was in its locker <sigh>  We picked up the mooring on the first try, secured our lines, and watched a storm move through the distance.

Storm cloud passing by on Sunday afternoon...we had just come from that direction

House perched on Eastern Harbor

We miss our poochie especially when we see another dog

This guy was swimming off our stern Monday morning

They're very shy

And very pretty
The settlement (what we would call a "town") is located in Northern Harbor, a 5 minute dinghy ride from us.  We explored on foot and stopped to pick up some groceries and ice.
Fish at the dinghy dock in town

Dock and Dine where we had lunch...Man O War is a dry island, no rum punch to be found here!

Very well-kept island

Man O War is the boat building capital of the Bahamas.

These lizards are everywhere

We found Duncan! :)

Bougainvillea in bloom

Very pretty little sailing dinghy

My nickname is Totes MaGotes........and I got a new tote today!

Sign in the shop :)  David said if I bought one tote, I would have to get rid of three.  Hmmm.  Not going to happen :)

So many to choose from, and this was only one corner of the shop

New tote/carry-on bag

Wow.

:)

It's in the details

Sugar Apple (someone's home)

Sugar Apple Snore Box....when you visit someone, they don't have guest rooms in their small houses, they have "snore boxes" outside with beds in them :)  They open all the windows and that's where you sleep!

We look forward to seeing the museum filled with boat-building history

One of three churches on the island

Peeking through the fence to say hello

Love these shells and matching pink flowers

See that skinny strip of green?  That is the shallow, narrow entry channel to Man O War!
